Main activities being carried out within this area are:
- To monitor relevant European and international policy developments
- To propose Biofuel Flightpath positions to the Core Team
- To determine lobby strategy/initiatives (for the BioFuel Flightpath members)
This area has created an “ad-hoc” Working Group which is focusing on the discussions taking place within the drafting of EU’s RED II and proposed amendments1 . The objective is to develop (and vote) a position paper that reflects the official position of EABF about the RED II. Main proposals are:
- If EC opts for aviation-specific multiplier, a higher value than 1.2 is required
- Harmonization in terms of eligibility, sustainability and MRV between RED and CORSIA
- Definition of "Advanced Biofuels" (Annex IX vs. GHG reduction)
- Increase of targets for 2030 (2% insufficient)
- Others (foster investor confidence, promotion of emerging technologies, development of local markets ...)
